Viking Glass, located in the famous glassmaking area of West Virginia, opened for business in the 1950s. They are most famous for their glass animals and birds. Their Epic Line (circa 1950s and 1960s) was innovative in design and vibrant in color. Rich tomato-red, amberina, brilliant blues, strong greens, black, amber, and deep amethyst were among the rainbow hues produced then. During the 1980s the company's ownership changed hands, and the firm became known as Dalzell-Viking. Viking closed their doors in 1998. Some of the Epic Line animals were reissued in crystal, crystal frosted, and black. |
