Scio Pottery opened in 1932 in Scio, Ohio. Until 1950 they made only plain white dinnerware, generally did not mark or backstamp, but over the years they did mark one or more special productions for grocery stores, etc., also the mark "Mercury" was patented to Scio Pottery on December 13, 1938, for pottery vases or jars for use by florists. They also used the "Golden Wheat" mark on dinnerware, as well as Homer Laughlin China Company and French Saxon China Company which used the same mark. Scio Pottery closed in 1985 but still continues as a selling agency with overseas products. |
