Hazel-Atlas began in 1885 in Wellsburg, Virginia, and operated until 1956 when it was sold to Continental Can Company, the sale was held up in court until 1963. During that time, products continued to be sold as Hazel-Atlas and beyond that time into the 1970's, they were sold as Hazel-Ware.
